Living Wage Recognition
Cynergi Cleaning & Support Services has become one of the first Service Provider organisations in Essex to become a Recognised Service Provider to work with the Living Wage.
The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually, based on the cost living in the UK. The Living Wage campaign has been running for ten years and has lifted over 45,000 people out of poverty. An independent study of the business benefits of implementing a Living Wage policy in London found that more than 80% of employers believe that the Living Wage had enhanced the quality of the work of their staff, while absenteeism had fallen by approximately 25%. 66% of employers reported a significant impact on recruitment and retention within their organisation. 70% of employers felt that the Living Wage had increased consumer awareness of their organisation’s commitment to be an ethical employer.
Service Providers are awarded with Living Wage Recognition after demonstrating a commitment to the Living Wage in their core business and in addition to this, raising the importance of the Living Wage with every customer they work with. The Living Wage Foundation accredits UK employers of staff once they can commit to paying all of their workforce including contracted staff, a Living Wage. They also work with Service Providers who supply staff to others, who are now embedding the Living Wage into their solution portfolio offering this as an additional bid, quote or tender to the usual one the customer requests. Recognised Service Providers are highlighting the Living Wage at every possible opportunity as part of best practice.
This will mean that even more organisations can consider experiencing the benefits of Living Wage delivered services. Rhys Moore Director of the Living Wage Foundation said “The benefits the Living Wage brings to staff and business are clear. I welcome the leadership shown by Cynergi on this important issue.” To find out more about becoming an accredited Living Wage Employer, or to work together with the Living Wage Foundation as a Recognised Service Provider, please visit www.livingwage.org.uk.
